Willow basketmaking : Group: Full Day

Come along and learn some.traditional willow basketry techniques and skills in the beautiful surroundings of Knowlands woods..

Dates between 12th May & 11th June

Time 10-5

Weave a gathering basket using willow in a peaceful woodland setting. This day course will cover techniques using the stake and strand method of weaving willow.

We will begin by weaving a base, then staking up and moving on the side weave. To finish we will use the distinctive asymmetric Polish style border which incorporates wood from the local coppice.

Students will have the chance to use more than one variety of willow, be inspired and learn new basketry skills to take away and of course your own basket.

Books and baskets by the tutor will be available as resources for further learning.

Please note a fair level of manual dexterity is needed for this course.

Suitable for beginners but good manual dexterity is needed.

There is some uneven ground in the woods.
